We participated in the Siloso Beach Resort Environment Tour under the Green Schools @ South West 2015 programme organized by NEA (SWRO) and South West CDC on the 3rd June 2015 afternoon. The environment tour focused on the themes of living in harmony with the environment, preserving biodiversity, and using natural closed-loop cycles. Our guide introduced the resort to us and the 3 guidelines used for preserving the terrain, trees, and open area. We were shown about building around the trees, and the importance of preserving biodiversity. Along the route, we spotted frogs, dragonflies, and many other fauna and flora. The resort also shared about growing their own herbs and vegetables. The guide explained to us about use of spring water for the poolside, and how this would not be possible without the trees preserved. After that, we went to the wormery to observe how the resort use the earthworm to produce a closed-loop cycle. The trip ended with delicious lemon grass drinks provided to us at the cafeteria. We had a great day!
